In a Greenware State of Mind

Well the mid-term critique in Ceramics class went ok. I had most of my pieces there but left out some because I really have a lot more pieces than anyone else (except maybe for Lou - but he is working smaller - making the perfect cup so it isn't as obvious) and I dont like to be so out of place. But I love making clay things and I will keep doing it if I can. I have some glazed things now so next post I will post photos of that stuff. For now I am trying to make slab formed pots like the two below and practice my wheel forms (cylinder and half sphere/bowl) and do some sgraffito turtles (black underglaze on Longhorn White clay) on mugs. Cheers!

There are photos of my latest pots (greenware) on my website.

gro - rillas

just got immersed in the new gorillaz cd demon days. wow. love it. get it.

september ends

too much has been written already about rita. i pass.

welcome october!

have posted new photos to my website photo album.

still making pots in my ceramics class. testing some glazes on bisque and trying to imagine a combination of unknowables and luck to decide what glazes to use on my pieces. i have a bunch of pots made with low-fire clays so i am going to use some commercial glazes- just really trying not to end up with a lot of really awful things at the end.

here is my latest thing still wet from its birth. i'm putting turtles on stuff. i made the stamp from a thin piece of craft foam and scissors. (the tricky part was keeping my cat from eating the stamp. that is where the microwave oven came in handy. kitty has not figured out how to open the microwave oven.)

my bromeliad that maureen mailette gave me in the late 90's bloomed right before the hurricane

sunflowers for kent. happy birthday!
